Article: Barbie and Joshua are too young to fall inlove

Masayang-masaya ang bagong contract star ng GMA Artist Center na si Barbie Forteza, ang gumanap na young Jodi sa hit primetime soap na Stairway To Heaven. Tanggap daw kasi ng maraming televiewers ang tambalan nila ng teen actor na si Joshua Dioniso, na gumanap namang young Cholo sa Stairway To Heaven.

For the past two weeks ay maganda ang rating ng pinagbibidahang afternoon soap nina Barbie at Joshua, ang "My Christmas List" episode ng Dear Friend na napapanood every Sunday afternoon sa GMA-7. Nang makarating kay Barbie ang magandang feedback at ratings ng Dear Friend, nagpasalamat siya sa Diyos dahil muli silang nabigyan ng pagkakataon ni Joshua na ipakita ang husay nila sa pag-arte.

"Sobrang happy po ako kasi nga pinaghirapan naming gawin ang episode na 'yon ng Dear Friend. Kahit nga po four weeks lang siya, still, ipinapakita namin ang mga natutunan namin sa pag-arte noong gawin namin ang Stairway To Heaven. Kaya noong ibalita sa amin na maganda at tanggap ng maraming manonood ang loveteam namin ni Joshua, malaking bagay na po iyon para pagbutihin pa namin ang work namin sa GMA-7," sabi ni Barbie sa PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal).

Pagkatapos ng Dear Friend ay gagawin nang bida sina Barbie at Joshua sa sarili nilang drama series titled First Luv, na papalit sa Ikaw Sana nina Jennylyn Mercado at Mark Herras.

"Excited na po kami ni Joshua sa magandang project ulit na ibinigay nila sa amin. Pangako namin ni Joshua na we will do our best para maging proud ang mga Kapuso natin sa tambalan namin," sambit ni Barbie.

JOSHUA IN BARBIE'S EYES. Ikinuwento ni Barbie sa PEP na nagkailangan pa sila ni Joshua noong first taping day nila ng Stairway To Heaven. First time daw kasi nilang nagkita at nagkatrabaho kaya nagkahiyaan pa silang dalawa.

"Talaga pong nahihiya kami sa isa't isa. Scene po 'yon sa may Merry-Go-Round sa Enchanted Kingdom. Unang scene pa lang po namin, kailangan daw ma-convince si Direk Joyce [Bernal] na in love kami ni Joshua.

"Siyempre po, nahiya ako talaga kasi hindi pa kami magkakilala nang husto. Kaya noong mag-take na kami, ginawa lang namin ang gusto ni Direk Joyce. Nagustuhan naman niya and after that take, hindi na kami nahiya ni Joshua sa isa't isa. Naging good friends na kami pagkatapos no'n," lahad niya.

Ang description ni Barbie kay Joshua ay "makulit, palabiro, at gentleman."

"Akala kasi ng iba tahimik lang si Joshua. Pero sobrang kulit niya at mahilig siyang mag-joke. He makes me laugh parati. Isa pang nagustuhan ko sa kanya ay ang pagiging gentleman niya. Like noong nagte-taping kami ng Dear Friend, he makes sure na may upuan ako at comfortable ako sa set. He's very, very sweet talaga."

Pero hanggang friends lang daw muna sila Barbie at Joshua. Hindi pa raw sila puwedeng magligawan dahil masyado pa silang mga bata. Barbie is only 12 years old samantalang kaka-15 lang ni Joshua last December 14.

"May mga nagtatanong na po sa akin kung nililigawan ba ako ni Joshua. Sabi ko naman na hindi, kasi po hindi pa puwede. Magagalit ang parents ko. Baka patigilin ako sa showbiz kapag nabalitaan nila na nagpapaligaw ako!" tawa niya.

Kung sakaling nasa tamang edad na si Barbie at ligawan siya ni Joshua, may pag-asa kaya ito sa kanya?

"Bakit naman hindi po?" nakangiting sagot ni Barbie. "Pero gusto ko muna na maging best friends kami ni Joshua. Sa ngayon kasi, si Joshua lang ang guy na naging close sa akin. Mostly, mga girls lang ang close sa akin. Kaya tinuturing ko na special friend si Joshua."

TWO MOVIES IN MMFF. Dalawa ang pelikula ni Barbie sa Metro Manila Film Festival this year. Una ay ang horror-comedy na Ang Darling Kong Aswang kung saan gumaganap siya bilang isa sa mga anak ni Vic Sotto, at pangalawa ay ang Wapakman kung saan bida naman si Manny Pacquiao.

"Nakagawa na po ako ng two movies before. Una ay yung Shake, Rattle & Roll 9 at yung indie movie na Puntod. Pero enjoy po ako gawin yung movie with Tito Vic. Para nga siyang daddy sa amin ni Mica [dela Cruz] habang nagsu-shooting kami. Ang bait-bait po ni Tito Vic kaya noong matapos ang shooting namin, parang nalungkot kami. Pero magkakasama naman kami parati sa promo at sa parade on December 24," saad ni Barbie.

"Kahit naman po ano; pero kung papapiliin po ako? Siguro po yung mga challenging, katulad nung mga loka-loka, tomboy, mga pipi, bingi."

What was the toughest challenge you had to face?
"Hindi po ako marunong mag-bike. Hindi ko ma-stand, hindi ko mahila. Lahit sa Stairway. Kailangan po, tag-isa kami ng bike doon. E hindi po ako marunong, kaya umangkas na lang ako."

What are you most proud of?
"'Yung sitwasyon ko ngayon. Dati naglalakad ako sa EDSA, walang napansin sa akin. At saka dati, nag-o-audition po ako. Ngayon, [binibigyan na ako ng roles]."

"Masayahin, makulit, cute. Kailangan 'yun!"

What is your most memorable experience with a fan?
"May fan po ako taga-Alaska. Parang mag-best friend na kami. Nag-umpisa po kasi 'yun, nag-comment siya sa Youtube, 'yung sa Nido. Ang ganda po ng comment niya, so nag-thank you po ako. Tapos, 'yun, mabait naman po siya, so nag-usap na nga po kami. Uuwi daw po siya ngayong Christmas, eh alam po niyang busy ako ngayong Christmas, so siguro mga February na lang, magkikita kami. "Matataas, bike, at saka sa madidilim."

"Siguro po mas higit pa dito. Pero okay na rin po kung hanggang dito na lang, at least kahit kaunti mayroon."
